Our commitment to sustainability is woven into every aspect of our operations, from sourcing responsibly caught fish to processing them with minimal environmental impact.

Responsible Sourcing

We partner exclusively with local, traditional fishermen who employ net fishing techniques to minimize bycatch and reduce harm to marine ecosystems. By sourcing from these skilled artisans, we honor time-tested fishing methods that maintain the ecological balance and contribute to the sustainability of our shared ocean resources. Each of our fishermen adheres to strict guidelines, ensuring that they only catch in-season, mature fish species and preserve fish populations for future generations.

Eco-Friendly Processing

Our fish are processed using a combination of traditional sun drying and innovative hybrid solar drying methods. These low energy, sustainable techniques allow us to produce fresh and dried seafood with a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to conventional drying methods. By harnessing renewable solar energy, we reduce our reliance on non-renewable resources and minimize greenhouse gas emissions, aligning our operations with our commitment to environmental responsibility.

Zero Waste Initiative

Nothing goes to waste at Bait Al Bahr. We have developed a zero-waste approach by ensuring that every part of the fish is utilized. Bones, internal organs, and other residual by-products are processed or sold to fish and animal meal manufacturers,
where they are repurposed into valuable nutritional products. This practice not only reduces waste but also contributes to a circular economy, maximizing the value of each catch and benefiting industries beyond seafood.

Supporting Coastal Communities

We recognize the critical role that small-scale, traditional fishermen play in coastal ecosystems and local economies. By working directly with these fishermen, we support their livelihoods, promote fair trade, and invest in the resilience of fishing communities.
